Hazmat Command Vehicles


16 of these vehicles were built for the New Zealand Fire Service to provide New Zealand with a world class capability to manage large incidents. They have been deployed at Pike River mine disaster and Christchurch Earthquake as a contemporary command centre. They are also a dual purpose vehicle with hazardous materials response options. Equipment installed on these vehicles includes – 2 electric generators – 230AC and 24DC power - light mast – 10.5m camera mast with 360degree closed circuit TV – 1500Kg Tail Lift – satellite communications  - work stations with large touch screen monitors – incident  control boards. These vehicles clearly demonstrate the special design and built capabilities of Custom Motorbodies.

Traffic Trucks

 
With the requirement for roading contractors to submit a traffic plan to the local council prior to undertaking road works has lead to the creation of this special purpose vehicle.
Programmable sign boards to direct traffic - Attenuators to give crash barrier protection are just a few of the safety features built into these trucks

Panelock Bodies

 
This system of construction was introduced to NZ by Custom Motorbodies in 1994.
Made from high tensile 6261 aluminium extrusions consisting of a coaming(s) – corner section(s) and vertical planks this system is the strongest and toughest system available.

Curtainsiders

 
The curtainsider body is the mainstay of most trucking companies in this country.
The quick and easy side loading of pallets make it the most efficient system available.
With a Tail Lift installation additional flexibility is added with the ability to load and unload the truck without having a fork hoist.

Slide a Side Bodies
 
The Slide a Side tends to be a specialist application typically for beverage delivery vehicles where a large number of curtain operations are performed per day.

Contractors Trucks

 
Contractors’ trucks are normally a Flatdeck or small Tipper with a large locker of toolbox for carrying gear. Flashing lights – work lights and all manner of auxiliary equipment maybe fitted as per customer requirements.

Tractor Units
 
Sometimes referred to as turn table and guards. These are normally heavy trucks for towing Semi-trailers.

Flatdecks

 
Commonly referred to as Flatdeck Trays – these can be as small as a UTE deck or as large as a heavy truck for carrying steel sections. Decking can be plywood – shiplap hardwood or steel depending on the application.

Transporters

 
Transporters as the name suggests can be used for car recovery or specialized vehicles for carrying heavy machinery. They can be fitted with winches – either electric or hydraulic – can have manually operated or hydraulically operated ramps.

Happiness truck for Coca Cola
 
Coca Cola were running a marketing campaign to coincide with the Rugby World Cup in 2011, so Custom Motorbodies built the Happiness Truck. This was a purpose built box body made to look retro and travelled to Rugby World Cup venues dispensing gifts and happiness to all those people who pressed the large button on the rear.
